All the brace T-shirts by ihle® are made from high-quality yarns and fabrics that have a comparatively long lifespa, specifically designed for orthopaedic corset fittings. This extra long cotton brace shirt is seamless, designed to fit perfectly like second skin while retaining its shape. Due to its high cotton content, this garment is also well suited to environmentally conscious or eco-conscious individuals who value sustainability and comfort and prefer to wear clothes made of natural fibres.

Size guide:

• Patient in standing position
• Measure the desired length of the vest in cm first e.g. 82 cm (second column). Then match the length with the size in the first column: 08(164) . Your size will be: Size 08(164) = Length 82cm
• These vests shape to the body really well. However, every brace is different in terms of shape and length.  Make sure you have enough length in the vest to accomodate the brace with some left over.

Why wear a Brace Shirt?

Orthopaedic corsets serve a supportive or corrective function. In all cases, they exert localized physical pressure on the body. It can generally be assumed that wearing a corset is uncomfortable for patients, particularly as typical wearing times range from 16 to 24 hours per day. Incorrect clothing or underwear can create pressure points caused by seams or folds.  Many patients lack suitable, well-designed undergarments that meet their specific needs regardless of the orthopaedic aid being used. These may reduce comfort, making the corset more difficult to tolerate and potentially shortening the duration of wear, especially since most patients are adolescents undergoing puberty.

The success of treatment, regardless of its complexity, depends on several factors, including the patient’s acceptance and willingness to adhere to the prescribed duration of therapy. Therefore, wearing comfortable undergarments is a crucial aspect of treatment, as it can significantly enhance compliance and support overall well-being throughout the course of therapy. Hence, the importance of maximising the wearing comfort of the corset as much as possible.

With this understanding and knowledge, ihle® manufactures undergarments to high standards, specifically for individuals who wear corrective corsets or prosthetics, such as those used for hip disarticulation.  As a result, patients and wearers benefit from all-day comfort thanks to the fabric’s temperature-regulating properties and seamless design. The garments combine practicality with durability, therefore maintaining quality even when washed at temperatures up to 60°C.

Structure and Properties of ihle® Brace Shirts

• Completely seamless in the torso area - designed on the basis of a seamless jersey sleeve
• Sleeves or underarm wings for skin protection - Some corset fittings extend to the armpit area. When a corset rises high toward the armpit, common in full-bust or longline styles, the rigid structure, boning, seams, and outer fabric can rub against the delicate underarm area. The sleeves and sleevless versions with the inserted underarm wings protect this area from friction on the surfaces of the corset material.
• Wrinkle-free - Spandex is incorporated into all tricot fabrics, providing excellent stretch capacity and enhancing the garment’s overall performance. This added elasticity helps minimize and smooth out wrinkles in the knitted fabric, ensuring a flat, even surface. The effect is particularly beneficial in high-pressure areas, such as the corset zones, where a smooth and supportive fit is essential.
• Slim fit - The fabric is designed with a relatively narrow base size but adapts effortlessly to all body shapes thanks to its exceptional elasticity. Both slim and fuller figures can find the right fit and achieve a comfortable, well-fitting wear. A tear-resistant sewing thread is used for the bottom hem, enhancing the shirt’s durability even with heavy use
• Longer than normal length - The cut of the shirts is relatively long.  This ensures to a large extent that the textile permanently covers the entire area of the corset - both when sitting and bending down.
